This is a hand quilted tapestry made out of thrifted textiles with various recorded thoughts transcribed on multiple squares. The basis of this project originated from the documentation and reflection of numerous recorded thoughts I’ve logged throughout the past four years of my life. These thoughts are indicative of the miscellaneous moments in my search for clarity and identity. They are all stitched together to form a larger representation of the continuous questioning of my own beliefs and desperate desire for an outlet to understanding. When my thoughts felt as though they were taking up too much space, putting them into words and documenting them became not just a source of discovery, but a reliable form of release. As I sat with the things my mind was constantly grasping, I began to find my own patterns and cognitive narratives emerge in a clear and examinable way. This piece asks the viewer to consider their own attachment to narratives crafted in thought without conscious verbalization. What can happen when we recognize our own storytelling and how might it be subconsciously shaping us without our consent? Conversely, how might we reclaim our thought patterns to embrace ourselves in a way that feels authentic, loving, and mindful.
